Songwriting

Students will learn how to compose and arrange their own songs! We'll discuss form, lyric-writing, arranging techniques, writing for different instruments and a number of other topics that will be tailored to each student's needs. No ability to play an instrument required, though basic proficiency in a chordal instrument is recommended as students progress. 

All lessons are taught through songwriting -- the songwriting-specific lesson will focus primarily on the study and practice of songwriting techniques rather than proficiency in an instrument. Below are the concentrations we offer for instrument-specific lessons.

Piano/Keyboards

Whether students want to learn to accompany others, play in a band, or rock it solo, lessons will focus on helping students become well-rounded players and overall musicians. We’ll cover technical understanding of the keyboard and its applications in contemporary music. ​

Guitar

Learn to rock your favorite songs with pro-level technique! Guitar lessons can focus on everything from fundamentals like music theory and performance basics, to technical prowess like fingerpicking patterns and soloing with scales, to learning the ins and outs of your favorite songs —it’s all up to you. ​

Voice

Beginner to advanced lessons focusing on popular music curriculum and the development of a healthy and versatile voice. At Phoenix, we believe that if you can talk, you can sing! We want to connect each student to his or her voice (and confidence). Vocalists will learn the fundamental tenets of musicianship that will allow them to better understand the music that inspires them.
